Project AVAL at the World Maritime Days in Szczecin

In 2018, we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the International Maritime Organization, a specialised organisation of the United Nations system.

The IMO deals with maritime affairs, maritime safety, international shipping and the prevention of marine environment pollution. During the last Maritime Safety Committee, a special working group was established to deal with autonomous shipping.

World Maritime Days in Szczecin, was a great opportunity to present our project AVAL.
The technology was presented both on Sup4Nav stand, which was located in the main pavilion and also during the panel session “The future of maritime labour market”, which was moderated by Piotr Wołejsza, CEO of Sup4Nav.
His speech was titled “The future of maritime labour market vs autonomous vessels”. During the panel, Piotr presented reasons why seaman quit their job. According to BIMCO, the current shortfall of 16,500 (2.1%) is set to rise dramatically by 2025 to 147,500 skilled workers. This is why autonomous vessels are the solution which is more than welcomed by shipping. The tendency was confirmed by distinguished guests.
